Llanfairfechan is the Coastal Gateway to Snowdonia and in close proximity to Conwy and is therefore an excellent location for visitors to the North Wales Coast and Snowdonia to use as a base. Llanfairfechan's own website www.llanfairfechan.org.uk gives details and links to several excellent Bed & Breakfast Guest Houses, places to eat, and things to do. Varied walks along the coast through nature reserves, or up into the hills above – full of history and all with many bird watching opportunities along the way.
Conwy and Gwynedd both offer a wide range of activities, facilities and attractions. One of the main attractions close by is Conwy Castle. The best, simple
description is found in the guidebook published by CADW, the Welsh
Historic Trust,
which states: "Conwy is by any standards one of the great fortresses
of medieval Europe." Conwy along with Harlech is probably the
most impressive of all the Welsh castles. Both were designed by Edward
I's master castle builder James of St. George, and while Harlech
has a more storied past, Conwy's eight massive towers and high curtain
wall are more impressive than those at Harlech.
The Conwy
Valley
which stretches, from the coastline right through the rural
heart
of Snowdonia. The compelling
mountain ranges, tranquil lakes and wild moorland provide the
ultimate picturesque backdrop stretching back hundreds of years
to an awesome past.
The unique atmosphere and natural attraction of the region never
fails to capture the hearts of visitors and each new season creates
a kaleidoscope of spellbinding beauty that has to be seen to
be believed.
From the family fun of castles and coves to the peace and tranquillity
of a leisurely rural stroll, there's something here for you in
Conwy and the Conwy Valley.
